September in the Selwyn Mountains
September is the month to visit any one of our Six Mountains. With recent fresh snow and more predicted September is shaping up to be a month to remember & be a part of in our mountains within the Selwyn District.
A true Porters tradition is the Oktoberfest event help from 12 Noon at the Cafe on Saturday the 22nd of September - Come up for some fun in the spring sunshine and enjoy some gourmet German food and beer.
On Saturday the 29th of September come join in for a big day out your retro gear and clothing. Spot prizes for the best dressed!
On Saturday the 8th of September they have having the Cheeseman Undie 500 - Strip down to your unmentionables and race down the mountain or just go along and watch. Held in spring for obvious reasons!
Also on Saturday the 15th of September they are hosting a Pirate Day!!
To walk the plank ‘n hunt for long lost treasure, dress like a Pirate ‘n chart ye course for Mt Cheeseman. Loads of free fun ‘n games ‘n prizes for Pirates ‘n Wenches of all ages. Nippers under 10yrs ski free. See ye there—if ye dare…Arrr!
At Broken River;
BR is hosting, Rider X on September 1st - Pit your skills against our other competitors. It's always a blast, with plenty of thrills for participants and spectators.
The annual BR BBQ & Bake-Off + Home Brew Competition will be hosted on September 22nd too.
Local BBQ chefs and home brewers will battle it out to see who can produce the finest culinary BBQ delight and/or best brew.
At Temple Basin
A week long event, the SplitFest for splitboarders from September 3rd - 9th with a party on September 8th.
At Mt Olympus;
Mt Olympus has a bunch of freeride events on in the month of September.
The Freeride Open from the 10th to the 14th of September followed by the Junior Freeride Event, the NZJFT on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of September.
At Craigieburn Valley
Craigieburn is the perfect place to retreat to if you are looking to take same time out, stay a few days on the mountain and ski the world-class terrain!
Ski safely & enjoy the spring snow.
